Send Money Online to Make the Holiday Season Easier
If you’re thinking about sending your true love a partridge in a pear tree this holiday season, we can’t help you.
But if you’re thinking about sending money to a family member out of town or using digital transfers to settle up with family members, we have tools that make it easier and more seamless to keep all your holiday expenditures straight (and they’re also a lot less noisy than all those calling birds and drumming drummers!).
We’ve put together some of the best options to transfer funds easily and cross things off your holiday to-do list faster.
Ways to Manage Money Transfers during the Holidays
Send money through Zelle®
Zelle® makes it easy to send money through Digital Banking or our mobile app. You can send funds to people who use other financial institutions, or receive funds from them, without sharing account details. All you need is a phone number to transfer funds quickly and efficiently.
Send money through Digital Banking
If you’re sending or receiving money from another Andrews Federal member, digital transfers can make processing quick and easy.
Just enter the account number and set the date and total of your transfer - it’s that simple to move money, whether you need to pay a fellow parent for teacher gifts or send money to a family member to cover the holiday dinner.
Send a wire transfer through Wise
If you’re sending money between Europe and the U.S., you’re probably focused on making sure less of your total spend goes toward fees and more goes toward your intended recipient. Transferring funds through Wise can help keep overhead to a minimum so you can get the most bang for your holiday buck.
Stay Safe While Making Online Transfers
Digital transfers are very convenient, especially during the busy holiday season. However, there’s always a chance that a scammer will try to take advantage of hectic schedules and tap into your accounts.
These tips can help you stay safe while using Zelle® or other online transfer options.
Only send money to people you know and trust. If someone you don’t know asks you to use a digital transfer option to send money, think twice.
Even if you think a request is from a family member, it’s a good idea to doublecheck. If you receive a request, check in with the sender through a different method (text or phone call) to make sure they really originated the request and it’s not a scammer impersonating them.
Doublecheck the details. Scammers are creative. They may pressure you to send money quickly or tell you that they’re raising last-minute funds to help families in need. Their goal is to make you make a snap decision without using your better judgement. They may even try to trick you by sending a transfer or giving you a bad check, then asking you to send money back to them. When the initial funds turn out to be fraudulent, you’re the one left paying the extra costs.
If a scammer does make contact with you or if you’re suspicious about an interaction, reach out to us immediately. We can help you reassure you about the situation, or can mitigate the potential for ongoing damages from the scammer’s actions.
Giving What Matters Most
It’s the thought that counts, and having convenient payment options can reduce your mental load during the holidays so you can spend your time and energy on what really matters - celebrating and making memories with loved ones.
