Enabling Push Notifications for Stronger Security

push notifications

Fraudsters and scammers are always active. To keep your accounts and finances safer, you need to use all the tools available to you. One of the easiest ones to add to your arsenal is push notifications on your Andrews Federal Mobile Banking app.

Here’s how they help and how to get started using them.

How Push Notifications Help

The average American checks their phone more than 200 times each day. If a fraudster tries to access your accounts or information, you want to ensure you get the information quickly so you can shut down their attempts ASAP.

As an Andrews Federal mobile banking user, you can set up push notifications for security alerts, as well as for transaction alerts. They can serve as a first line of defense from scammers by alerting you quickly, so you can contact us if something is not right with your account.

How to Set Up Push Notifications

If you are downloading the mobile banking app for the first time, you will be asked if you want to enable push  notifications. Select to allow them, and you’re all set and you’ll receive timely alerts for account issues.

You can also enable or update push notifications later by choosing the Alerts tab, selecting push notifications and then either Enabling all, or selecting specific alerts you would like to receive.

You also have the ability to receive notifications by SMS (text), voice call and secure message. For more information, you can review the Digital Banking User Guide on our website.

What To Do When You Receive a Push Notification

When you receive an update or push notification, the most important thing to do is stay calm. It can feel very stressful and violating to think someone may have tried to access your accounts.

Instead of panicking, stop. Take a moment to assess the situation and review the notification. If you don’t recognize the action or transaction that’s being reported (for example, you didn’t try to change your password but received a password change notification), reach out immediately to Andrews Federal. Our member service team is available to help you, to ensure you maintain control over your account, and to help you mitigate the impact of scams perpetrated by fraudsters.
