International Credit Union Day is a day to reflect on the cooperative spirit that makes credit unions unique and connects credit union members, as well as to remind us of our shared mission of serving our members and communities.

What is International Credit Union Day?
International Credit Union Day (often abbreviated ICU Day) is a day when credit unions across the world come together to reflect on our shared mission, our cooperative values, and our mission to support members through our “people helping people” spirit and ethos.
What Makes Credit Unions Special?
Credit unions are member-owned organizations that are focused on giving back to their member-owners. Credit unions are established as not-for-profit financial institutions, which means any profits we generate are returned to our members in the form of lower rates, lower fees and higher earnings.
This Year’s Theme: “Cooperation for a Prosperous World”
The theme for International Credit Union Day 2025 is “Cooperation for a Prosperous World.” This theme was chosen to connect with the United Nations’ designation of 2025 as the International Year of Cooperatives, under the slogan “Cooperatives Build a Better World.”
Even when our branches are spread across states, countries and continents, our purpose and commitment remains the same. Our team members share a commitment to service and to fulfill our mission of “delivering innovative products and world-class service to help our global membership realize their financial aspirations.”
