Andrews Federal Assists Military Families at Joint Base Andrews Fisher House

Andrews Federal Credit Union  partnered with the Armed Forces Financial Network (AFFN) to present $5,000 in gift cards to the Joint Base Andrews Fisher House. Andrews Federal raised $3,000 through a Skip-A-Pay loan promotion. In addition, AFFN contributed a generous $2,000; all of which was ultimately distributed to families living at the Fisher House to help defray travel costs and other necessities associated with daily living expenses.

Andrews Federal Credit Union Sponsors Tuskegee Airmen Youth Breakfast

Andrews Federal Credit Union recently sponsored 20 JROTC students for the East Coast Chapter of the Tuskegee Airmen, Inc. youth breakfast held at the Clubs at Andrews. The theme for the event was “Empowering and Motivating Our Youth.”

Cherry Blossom Run 2014

Andrews Federal Credit Union served as a sponsor for the 2014 Credit Union Cherry Blossom 10-Mile Run and 5K Run/Walk.  The race took place on the National Monument grounds in Washington, DC.  Andrews Federal employees, including President & CEO Jim Hayes, were on hand to volunteer.

25th Annual Benjamin O. Davis Golf Classic

Andrews Federal sponsored the 25th Annual Benjamin O. Davis Golf Classic, hosted by the East Coast Chapter of Tuskegee Airmen, Incorporated  at Joint Base Andrews.

The proceeds from the tournament are used to fund the Chapter’s Youth Programs; in particular, the Education Assistance Grants Program for deserving students in the Washington, DC metropolitan area.

Air Force Sergeants Association's 41st Annual Golf Tournament

Andrews Federal Credit Union supported the 102nd Chapter of the Air Force Sergeant Association’s 41st Annual Golf Tournament by serving as a Presidential Sponsor.

Base Backyard Party

Andrews Federal Credit Union sponsored the first of a series of summer concerts offered by the 87th Force Support Squadron at Doughboy Field on Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst (JBMDL).

The "Base Backyard Party" featured free live music from the Marshall Tucker Band, a Food Truck-a-Palooza and a 4th of July fireworks show.

2015 Best of Suitland Award

Andrews Federal Credit Union was selected for the 2015 Best of Suitland Award in the Credit Unions category by the Suitland Award Program.

Each year, the Suitland Award Program identifies companies that have achieved exceptional marketing success in their local community and business category. These are local companies that enhance the positive image of small business through service to their customers and the community. These exceptional companies help make the Suitland area a great place to live, work and play.

2015 Scholarship Program

Andrews Federal Credit Union awarded $12,000 in scholarships to eight students. Each student received $1,500 toward higher education expenses.

Three of those students, Andrew Peacock, Tiara Hodge, and Khadijah Bland (left) along with friends and family members, were on hand at the Credit Union's 67th Annual Meeting to receive their award in person.

24th of July Party featuring Bacon Brothers

Andrews Federal Credit Union sponsored the second in a series of summer concerts offered by the 87th Force Support Squadron at Fitness and Sports Center on Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst (JBMDL).

The "24th of July Party” featured free live music from the Bacon Brothers,  as well as Philly-style foods, including cheesesteaks, hoagies and soft pretzels. Thousands of people from JBMDL were in attendance.

Bowie Baysox Military Heroes Appreciation Night

Andrews Federal Credit Union partnered with the Bowie Baysox to salute our local Military Heroes. In addition to sponsoring the event, the Credit Union presented a Military Heroes Card Set to the first 1,000 fans, featuring active and retired members of the Armed Forces received through a nomination process.

Toys donated to benefit Kristi's Christmas

Andrews Federal donated a box of toys to benefit Kristi’s Christmas. The toys were distributed throughout the Fairfax County Public School System to children in need.

Fairfax County Public Schools sponsor a “Last Chance Boutique” where school counselors and social workers can pick toys for their students so no one goes without during the holiday season.

2015 Air Show

Andrews Federal Credit Union served as the Premier Sponsor for the 2015 Joint Base Andrews Air Show, including the AirFest Party. The Show commemorated the U.S. Air Force's 68th birthday and the 100th anniversary of the Naval Reserves.

The airshow returned to Joint Base Andrews after a three year hiatus. Tens of thousands made their way to the base for the day’s activities.

26th Annual Christmas in April Golf Tournament

Andrews Federal Credit Union served as a Premier Sponsor for the 26th Annual Christmas in April – Susan Denison Mona Golf Tournament on Joint Base Andrews.

Christmas in April is a non-denominational volunteer organization that repairs the homes of senior citizens who are either low-income and/or physically challenged so they may live in warmth, safety, and independence.

Parents and Children Fighting Cancer

Andrews Federal Credit Union presented a check in the amount of $3,085.00 to support Parents & Children Fighting Cancer (PCFC).


PCFC’s mission is to improve the quality of life for children with cancer and to provide support for their families.

Andrews Federal Gives Back to the Community

Andrews Federal  gave back to the communities it serves throughout December. Below is an abbreviated list of the various contributions the Credit Union made.

  •  Collected toys for the JBA Airman's Attic
  • Collected and donated items to St. Ann’s Center for Children, Youth and Family for their Amazon Wish List
  • Donated coats, toys and food to the North Capitol collaborative to help women and children
  • Donated new gloves and hats to benefit Angel Watch Shelter for women and their children fleeing domestic violence or homelessness in southern Maryland
  • Assisted a group of local churches that help the needy in Burlington County
  • Collected blankets for the homeless from members in Burlington County
  • Provided gift cards for children of deployed service members for the Holidays
  • Supported 2 families via the Share-a-Meal program at SHAPE
  • Supported a Christmas party for a local orphanage for more than 60 children

Thaboun Inducted into Business Network International

Andrews Federal Credit Union’s Enola Thaboun, Springfield Branch Manager was inducted into Business Network International (BNI) – Prosper Alexandria Chapter.

With over 180,000 members worldwide, BNI is the largest business networking organization in the world.

Hearts Apart Holiday Party

Andrews Federal Credit Union, along with the USO, sponsored the 2015 Hearts Apart Holiday Party hosted by the Military and Family Support Center at the Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst (MDL) Community Center.

The donation was used to provide holiday gifts for the children of deployed military members on Joint Base MDL.

Great American Smokeout 5K Cold Turkey Trot

Andrews Federal Credit Union served as a sponsor for the Great American Smokeout 5K Cold Turkey Trot held at the Joint Base Andrews Fitness Center. 

The event, hosted by 779th Aerospace Medicine Squadron health promotion flight, is part of a national annual event that encourages smokers to join together to stop smoking “cold turkey” for 24 hours. 

National Wreaths Across America Day

Andrews Federal sponsored 20 wreaths for students in the Millionaire’s Club at North Point High School (Waldorf, MD) as part of National Wreaths Across America Day at Cheltenham Veteran’s Cemetery.

The Millionaire's Club is a complete financial skills program created by the CU Foundation MD|DC designed for delivery at the high school level.
