Fraud Alerts
Identity thieves use a variety of techniques to obtain your personal information. As we become aware of these schemes, we will post them below for your awareness and protection. If you receive an email, text message or phone call detailing a change in your account, please contact us immediately to verify the validity of the information received.
Email Allegedly from the “Electronic Payments Association” - The NACHA Electronic Payments Association has received notification that individuals and/or companies have received a fraudulent email that has the appearance of having been sent from NACHA. The email appears to be coming from the email address “payments@nacha.org.” and instructs the receiver to click on a link within the body of the email to view a report or take further action.
Please note that this email is fraudulent and should be considered a “phishing” attempt. Phishing emails frequently have attachments and/or links to Web pages that host malicious software or receive personal information such as account numbers, social security numbers or other information so that an identity thief can use it to commit fraud. Do not open attachments or follow Web links in unsolicited emails from unknown parties or from parties with whom you do not normally communicate. If you should receive any unsolicited emails regarding activity on your account at Andrews Federal Credit Union, please call us at 800.487.5500(U.S.) or 0800.487.56267 (International).
Taxpayer Scam - Taxpayers are being urged to report and delete emails appearing to originate from the IRS with the subject line: Your Tax Application Has Been Rejected. The email in question contains an embedded link that takes consumers to an IRS-clone website. Here, taxpayers are asked to disclose personal information that could be used for fraudulent activities. If you receive this email, please contact the IRS at irs.gov.
As always, Andrews Federal Credit Union does not contact members via email or telephone to request personal information. If you receive a phone call or email requesting this type of information, please contact us immediately.
